Turn your TikTok data export into a readable PDF

TikTok gives you one deeply nested file with everything in it and no viewer. Upload user_data.json and get your messages out as a dated transcript.

How it works.

TikTok puts likes, watch history, messages and login records in one file under human-sounding keys that have been renamed at least three times across export versions. Rather than assume one shape, this walks the file looking for anything that is a conversation, which survives the next rename too.

Request your data

Settings and privacy, Account, Download your data. Choose JSON. TXT cannot be turned into anything useful.

Step 2

Upload it

Drop user_data.json or the whole zip. If Windows refuses to open TikTok's zip, that is a known TikTok bug and 7-Zip opens it.

Step 3

Check it, then download

You see how many conversations were found. The PDF has them with dates and senders.

Questions, answered.

TikTok's zip will not open on Windows.

That is a real bug in how TikTok builds the zip and TikTok's own help pages acknowledge it. 7-Zip opens it. Nothing on this end can fix a broken zip before you have got the file out.

Should I ask for JSON or TXT?

JSON. The TXT version is a formatting of the data rather than the data, and a lot is missing from it.

It found several conversations. Which one do I get?

All of them, in date order, and the preview tells you how many were in there.

What happens to my file?

It is deleted within 7 days, along with the finished PDF. It is used to make your file and nothing else. Nobody reads it.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no signup, no subscription and no password. You upload, you see the result, you pay once if you want it.
