Bank statement to Excel, with the dates and amounts right
Opening a bank CSV in Excel often turns dates into text, swaps day and month, or reads 1.234,56 as the wrong number. Upload the export and get a clean xlsx where both are right.
Your preview
This is your real file, parsed. Pay only if the result is right.
How it works.
A statement converter fails quietly, not loudly. It never crashes on a wrong date, it just writes the wrong one. Two things get decided from evidence in your file rather than assumed: which way round the dates go, and which character is the decimal point. The preview states both, with the row that settled it, before you spend anything.
Upload your export
A CSV from your online banking, a QIF from Quicken or similar, or an OFX file. One file at a time.
Check the two assumptions
The preview says how the dates were read and how the decimal point was read, and shows the row that settled each one. If the dates look wrong, set the date order below and preview again before you pay.
Download the spreadsheet
A real xlsx with the date column as actual dates and the amount column as actual numbers, not text, plus the same data as a plain CSV. Every transaction, not just the preview's first 20.
What it reads
- CSV downloads from online banking, in English and several European languages, including Afrikaans.
- QIF files from Quicken and similar software.
- OFX and QFX files.
- It does not read PDF statements. Download the CSV or OFX from your online banking instead; most banks offer one next to the PDF.
The two things that go wrong, checked
Whether dates are day first or month first, and whether the decimal point is a dot or a comma, are worked out from evidence in your own file, not assumed. The preview says what was decided and shows the row that settled it. If it is wrong, change it and preview again before you pay.
