A court bundle index that is right, and that links
A template gives you a table to fill in by hand, and every time a document moves the page numbers are wrong. Upload the documents instead and the index is built from the real bundle.

How it works.
There is no one set of bundle rules. In England and Wales, the judiciary's general guidance on electronic court bundles (29 November 2021) asks for computer generated page numbers that start at 1 and match the PDF's own page numbers, an index where every entry links to its document, bookmarks, and OCR on typed pages that were not created digitally. It gives way to specific guidance from a particular court and to the directions in your own case, and courts in other countries set their own rules. This does the numbering, the linked index and the bookmarks. It does not run OCR, and it cannot tell you what your court wants, so check your order or ask the court office before you file. Getting the numbering right by hand in Word is where people lose an evening.
Select your documents
Select all your PDFs and photos together. Photos go on their own page and are shrunk to fit if they are bigger than it, never stretched. PDF pages keep their own size unless you set Paper size to A4 or US Letter, which puts every page on that paper and shrinks anything bigger to fit.
Name it and check the index
Give it a title and a reference if it has one. The preview shows the index with the page each document starts on, so you can check the running order before paying. It shows the index, not the pages themselves.
Download the finished bundle
One PDF: cover, index, every page numbered continuously at the bottom centre, a small label box in the top right corner of each document page, and bookmarks down the side. The number and label are drawn on top of the page, so anything printed in those two spots can be hidden.
What the index does here
- Each entry lists the document and the page it starts on, worked out from the assembled bundle, so it cannot drift.
- Each entry is a link to that page in the PDF, which is what electronic bundle guidance in England and Wales asks for.
- Pages are numbered continuously at the bottom, and every page carries a small label with its document reference.
- The PDF has real bookmarks down the side, one per document.
Before you start
Bundle rules differ between courts and countries, and the directions in your own case come first. This builds a well formed bundle; what your court accepts is for you, your representative or the court to confirm. Have your documents as PDFs or photos, in the order you want them, and check that order in the free index preview before paying.
