How it works.

WhatsApp does not give you a document. On iPhone the export is a ZIP file, and on Android it is a text file with any media sent alongside it. Getting that out of the app is the part most people get stuck on, so that is step one.

Step 1

Export from WhatsApp

On iPhone, open the chat, tap the contact or group name, then Export Chat. On Android, open the chat and tap More options, More, Export chat. Choose Attach Media on iPhone or Include media on Android if you want the photos, or Without Media for a much smaller file. Send it to yourself.

Step 2

Drop the file in

Upload the ZIP as WhatsApp made it. Do not unzip it first. If Android gave you a .txt with the photos as separate files, put them in one zip together, because this takes one file. You will see the participants, the message count and the real formatting straight away, for free.

Step 3

Check it, then pay

If the names, dates and layout look right, pay once and download the full PDF. If something looks wrong, close the tab and nothing is charged.

Do I have to make an account?

No. There is no sign-up on this site at all. You upload, you look, you pay if you want the file.

What happens to my chat after this?

Your upload, the extracted media and the finished PDF are all deleted within 7 days, automatically. Nobody reads them and they are not used for anything else.

Will the photos be in the PDF?

Only if they are in the export, and only if you choose to include them on the preview, which is an optional extra priced before you pay. WhatsApp's own help says the export attaches the most recent media from the chat, so older photos may not be in the file at all. Where a photo is missing, the PDF shows that one was there. A single photo over 2 MB is listed by filename instead of printed.

My export is bigger than 150 MB.

Export again and choose Without Media. The file is then text only, which is usually a small fraction of the size. If you need the photos and the file is genuinely huge, email us and we will run it by hand.

Can I use this for court?

People do. The PDF preserves sender names, timestamps and message order, which is what makes a transcript useful rather than a pile of screenshots. WhatsApp's own help says view once messages are never exported, so they cannot be in it. Whether it is admissible depends entirely on your jurisdiction and your case, and we are not able to advise you on that.

Does it work with iPhone and Android?

Both. The export format differs between them and between languages, and the parser handles the common variants. On its own a date like 3/2/24 does not say which number is the day, so the whole chat is used to decide: any date past the 12th settles it, and failing that the order the messages were sent in. The preview says which way it read them and why, and if nothing in the chat settles it, it says that too and lets you choose.
