A funeral program template you fill in, not fight with
Templates for Word and Canva leave you fixing text boxes at midnight, and the page order comes out wrong when it is folded. Fill in a form instead and get a PDF that folds correctly.

How it works.
The part that goes wrong is the fold. The bi-fold here is one sheet of A4, printed both sides and folded once, and its four pages do not print in reading order: the front cover shares a side with the back page. Lay it out in reading order in Word and the back cover ends up inside the programme, which you find out at the copy shop the day before the funeral. This does that arrangement for you and shows you the pages in reading order so you can check the words. It is made for A4 paper, so on US Letter it prints slightly smaller.
Fill in what you know
The name is the only thing that has to be there. Everything else can be blank now and filled in when the family decides. Nothing is lost by starting before it is all settled.
Add the photo and look at it
The preview shows the four pages in reading order, at real proportions, so you can check the spelling of every name, and that nothing long has been cut off at the bottom of a page, before anyone prints anything. That preview is free.
Download and print
You get one PDF with the pages already arranged for folding and 3 mm of bleed on every edge. The preview tells you how to run it through the printer, and so does the answer below.
Why the page order goes wrong
A folded program has four pages on one sheet, and they do not print in reading order: the front cover shares a side with the back page. Lay it out in reading order in a template and the back cover ends up inside the program, which you only find out at the print shop. This does the arrangement for you, and shows the pages in reading order so you can check every name.
What you can include
- A photo, the full name, the dates of birth and death, and a short line under the name.
- The order of service, readings or scripture, pallbearers, the family, a message of thanks, and reception details.
- Four looks: Classic, Plain, Soft and Formal.
- The program is made on A4 paper. On US Letter it prints slightly smaller, which most people do not notice; tell your printer it is an A4 file.
