Funeral order of service, ready to print
Type the service in the order it will run, add a photo for the front, and download an A4 order of service that folds the right way round.
Your preview
This is your real file, parsed. Pay only if the result is right.
How it works.
The part that goes wrong is the fold. The bi-fold here is one sheet of A4, printed both sides and folded once, and its four pages do not print in reading order: the front cover shares a side with the back page. Lay it out in reading order in Word and the back cover ends up inside the programme, which you find out at the copy shop the day before the funeral. This does that arrangement for you and shows you the pages in reading order so you can check the words. It is made for A4 paper, so on US Letter it prints slightly smaller.
Fill in what you know
The name is the only thing that has to be there. Everything else can be blank now and filled in when the family decides. Nothing is lost by starting before it is all settled.
Add the photo and look at it
The preview shows the four pages in reading order, at real proportions, so you can check the spelling of every name, and that nothing long has been cut off at the bottom of a page, before anyone prints anything. That preview is free.
Download and print
You get one PDF with the pages already arranged for folding and 3 mm of bleed on every edge. The preview tells you how to run it through the printer, and so does the answer below.
What goes in an order of service
- Front: a photo, the full name, the dates, and often a short line such as "A celebration of the life of".
- Inside: the order the service will follow, hymns or songs, readings, tributes and committal.
- Back: thanks from the family, the reception venue, and a poem or short message.
- You type each part in your own words and order. Nothing is rearranged or added for you.
Printing
The bi-fold is one A4 sheet printed double sided and folded once into four A5 pages. There is also a single sheet option, A5, front and back. The PDF has 3 mm bleed for a print shop, and prints fine at home with Fit to page.
